Chapter 10 - The Moving Day

Thirty days passed quickly, and the legal eviction date finally arrived with absolute certainty.

I parked my black town car across the street, rolling down the tinted window to watch the show.

Two large, intimidating sheriff's deputies banged on the front door of the luxury condominium.

When David opened the door, looking completely exhausted and homeless, they didn't hesitate.

"Time is up, Mr. Vance. You have ten minutes to grab your personal belongings and vacate the premises," the deputy ordered.

Claire ran out of the bedroom, clutching several expensive designer bags to her chest.

"You can't do this! I am a respectable woman! I have rights!" she shrieked at the armed officers.

The deputies completely ignored her tantrums, physically grabbing her arm and escorting her into the hallway.

David walked out carrying two black garbage bags filled with his cheap, wrinkled clothing.

They stood on the sidewalk in front of the building, surrounded by the wealthy neighbors they used to look down on.

Claire tried to hide her face in shame as a passing jogger openly laughed at her miserable state.

I rolled down my window completely, ensuring they both had a perfect view of my face.

David looked across the street, making direct eye contact with me, tears streaming down his face.

I simply raised a single, perfectly manicured eyebrow, completely devoid of any pity.

I slowly rolled the dark window back up, telling Thomas to drive me to my favorite luxury spa.

I had successfully taken out the garbage, and now it was time to focus on myself.
