Chapter 13 - The Return of Claire

Claire thought she could simply run away and find another wealthy man to leech off of.

She moved into a cheap apartment with a friend, spending her days hunting for rich executives at luxury bars.

One evening, she spotted a handsome, wealthy-looking man wearing a Rolex at a hotel lounge.

She approached him, flashing her most seductive, charming smile, ready to play her usual game.

"Buy a girl a drink?" she purred, leaning against the polished mahogany bar.

The man turned around, and Claire’s heart completely stopped in her chest.

It was Richard, my incredibly sharp and ruthless wealth manager.

"Hello, Claire. I am afraid I don't buy drinks for women who assault the elderly," Richard smiled coldly.

Claire stumbled backward, her face turning completely pale as the bartender glared at her.

"How... how did you find me?" she stammered, looking around the room in pure panic.

"Margaret knows exactly where you are, Claire. She knows everything about your pathetic little life," Richard stated.

"She also knows about the seventy thousand dollars in credit card debt you hid from your husband."

Claire gasped, realizing she was completely trapped in a corner with no possible escape.

"If you ever try to contact David, or if you ever come within fifty feet of Margaret, we will destroy you."

"We will bury you in so much legal debt that your grandchildren will be paying it off," Richard threatened softly.

Claire turned and ran out of the bar, tears ruining her heavy, expensive makeup.

She was finally experiencing the exact same terror she had inflicted on me for a decade.
