Chapter 8 - The Audio Leak

At 5:00 PM, the local news broke their regular programming for an explosive exclusive.
“This morning, Julian Vance claimed he was protecting his late brother-in-law's legacy. But leaked audio from three months ago paints a chillingly different picture of the Vance family dynamics.”
The news anchor faded out, and Thomas’s voice filled the airwaves, clear and steady.
“Julian, I can’t authorize this wire transfer. It’s embezzlement. If the IRS audits us, I go to prison.”
Then came Julian’s voice, dripping with venom and arrogance.
“You’ll do exactly what I tell you to do, Tommy boy. You’re nothing without my family’s name. You sign the paper, or I swear to God I’ll have my father’s friends at the SEC tear your little company apart. Elena won’t protect you. She’s too weak to go against us. Sign it.”

The broadcast cut back to the anchor, who looked visibly stunned.
I leaned back in my leather office chair, feeling a profound sense of satisfaction. My phone began vibrating incessantly. Board members, reporters, lawyers. I ignored them all. Julian had wanted the public's attention. Now he had it. And in the corporate world, there is no sin greater than being caught stealing on tape.
