Chapter 7 - The Trap is Set

The hitman refused to speak to the police, but Harrison Cole didn't need him to. The attack was the final piece of leverage they needed.
By Friday morning, Elena and Marcus arrived at the hospital with their private EMTs, looking triumphant. The media was gathered outside. They were ready to play the tragic, devoted family taking their patriarch home to die in peace.
They walked into Room 518 expecting to find Alexander disconnected from the monitors, ready for transport.
Instead, the room was empty.
"Where is he?!" Elena shrieked, turning on Dr. Evans, who was calmly writing on a clipboard. "Where is my husband?!"
"Mr. Vance has been relocated," Evans said smoothly.
"You don't have the authority!" Marcus yelled, his face turning purple. "We hold the proxy! We own the company! I'll have your medical license revoked today!"
"Actually, you don't own a damn thing," a deep, booming voice echoed from the doorway.

Harrison Cole stepped into the room, flanked by two armed NYPD detectives and a team of federal financial investigators. He tossed a massive legal binder onto the hospital bed.
"Emergency injunction granted by a federal judge at 6:00 AM this morning," Harrison smiled. "Medical proxy revoked. Corporate shares frozen. And your private accounts in the Caymans? Seized."
