Chapter 3 - The Secret Files

That afternoon, I met Julian at a quiet coffee shop on the edge of town.
He slid a thick manila folder across the wooden table toward me.
“I made copies of everything before Rachel ordered IT to wipe your old desktop,” Julian whispered.
I opened the folder and felt my jaw clench as I scanned the financial documents.
“She’s been expensing her wellness retreats as corporate tax deductions?” I asked, astounded.
“Not just the retreats, Sarah,” Julian pointed to a highlighted ledger.
“She used company funds to renovate her kitchen and pay for her personal country club memberships.”
“And Mom signed off on all of this?”
“Evelyn signed the authorizations blindly, assuming you were still balancing the books behind the scenes.”
I stared at the papers, realizing that Rachel hadn't just stolen the CEO title; she had stolen from our future.
“This is corporate fraud, Julian,” I said, carefully placing the documents back into the folder.
“If the board of directors sees this, they will force both of them out.”
“That’s why I brought it to you,” he smiled softly.
“You are the only one who actually knows how to run that place.”
I shook my head, a new plan forming in my mind.
“I don’t want to run Sterling Logistics anymore, Julian.”
“I want to build my own empire, and I want to take every single good client with me.”

He raised his coffee cup in a silent toast.
“Then tell me where to send my resume, boss.”
