Chapter 16 - The Media Storm

The official adoption made front-page news across the country. The media spun it as a modern-day fairytale: The Ruthless Billionaire and the Street Orphans.
Paparazzi swarmed the gates of Julian’s private estate in the suburbs—a massive, sprawling mansion he had purchased because the penthouse didn't have a backyard for Leo to play in.
Julian was notoriously private, and the media intrusion infuriated him. One afternoon, while taking Maya to her first horseback riding lesson, a group of photographers ambushed their SUV, flashing blinding lights and shouting invasive questions through the tinted glass.
Maya shrank back into the leather seats, covering her ears.
Julian’s protective instincts flared into a violent rage. He ordered the driver to stop the car.
"Julian, don't," his head of security warned. "It's what they want. They want a reaction."
"They are terrifying my daughter," Julian snarled, opening the heavy car door.
He stepped out into the freezing Chicago air, towering over the paparazzi. The cameras clicked frantically, capturing the furious billionaire.
"Listen to me very carefully," Julian’s voice boomed over the street, cold and lethal. "If any of you point a lens at my children again, I will buy the publications you work for and fire every single one of you. I will tie you up in litigation until you can't afford to buy groceries. Do you understand me?"
The photographers lowered their cameras, intimidated by the sheer venom in his voice. Julian Vance was not a Hollywood celebrity; he was a corporate warlord, and he had the capital to ruin them.
Julian got back into the car, his expression instantly softening as he looked at Maya.
"Are you okay?" he asked gently.
May you like
Maya smiled, a wicked, confident little smirk that looked exactly like Julian's. "I'm fine. You really scared them, Dad."
"Good," Julian smirked back. "That’s my job."
