Chapter 5 - The Master Auditor

While Julian’s family panicked in a motel, I was sitting in the sleek, glass-walled conference room of a top-tier law firm in the city center. Across the table sat my old friend, Marcus Vance, one of the most ruthless family law and financial litigators in the state.
"You really laid the trap perfectly, Richard," Marcus chuckled, looking over the thick binder of financial documents I had brought him. "Julian thought he was the smartest guy in the room."
"Julian is a narcissist with a business degree," I said, sipping my black coffee. "He confused cruelty with intelligence."
"So, what’s the play?" Marcus asked, clicking his pen.
"Total annihilation," I stated calmly. "Maya is filing for a restraining order and immediate divorce. But I want to go deeper. While Julian was busy terrorizing my daughter, I spent the last six months quietly auditing his logistics company."
Marcus raised an eyebrow. "And what did you find?"
I slid a secondary folder across the mahogany table. "Julian has been embezzling from his investors. He’s been using phantom shell companies to funnel corporate funds into his personal accounts to maintain his lavish lifestyle and fund his parents' vacations. It’s classic wire fraud."
Marcus let out a low whistle as he scanned the documents. "This is a federal crime, Richard. If we hand this over to the SEC and the FBI, Julian isn't just looking at domestic assault charges. He’s looking at decades in federal prison."

"Exactly," I said. "He wanted to treat my daughter like a prisoner. Let’s show him what a real cage looks like."
"I'll have the evidence couriered to the US Attorney's office by noon," Marcus grinned. "The hunter becomes the hunted."
