Chapter 7 - Shifting Lines

The air in the kitchen grew thick, heavy with unspoken desires. Clara’s breath hitched as Julian’s thumb brushed her lower lip.
“I don’t want to leave you, Julian,” she admitted, the truth slipping out before she could stop it.
He didn’t hesitate. Julian pulled her against his chest, his mouth crashing down on hers. It was a kiss born of adrenaline, fear, and a desperate, starving need. Clara kissed him back fiercely, her hands tangling in his dark hair. The cold, calculated mafia boss shattered, leaving only a man who was fiercely protective of the woman in his arms.
When they finally broke apart, both were breathless.
