Chapter 10 - The Fall of Moretti

The gunfire ceased abruptly as Moretti’s remaining men surrendered, dropping their weapons at the sight of their bleeding boss. Julian stood over Victor, his gun aimed squarely at the man’s chest.

“You broke the rules, Victor,” Julian said coldly. “You went after family.”

Victor coughed blood, smiling weakly. “In this life, Rossi... family is just a weakness.”

“No,” Julian pulled the trigger, ending the threat permanently. “Family is a reason.”

Julian wiped the blood from his cheek and turned back to the safehouse. His men were securing the perimeter and dragging Carlo Bianchi away. The old man was screaming for mercy, but Julian didn’t even blink. “Put him on a boat to South America. If he ever returns to the States, kill him.”

Julian limped down into the basement, inputting the code to the panic room. The steel door hissed open.

Clara was sitting on the floor in the corner, singing a soft lullaby to the boys, who were huddled safely against her. When she saw Julian, she burst into tears. She rushed forward, throwing her arms around his neck, not caring about the gunpowder and blood staining his clothes.
