Chapter 15 - Epilogue

One year later.
The Rossi estate was decorated with white lights and silk ribbons. Inside the grand ballroom, Julian stood at the head of the table, raising a glass of champagne. He looked down the table at his inner circle, his loyal men, and finally, at his wife.
Clara was glowing, her hand resting protectively over the very visible curve of her pregnant belly. A little girl was on the way.
Roman, Rocco, and Reid were running around the table, wearing miniature tuxedos, completely ignoring the strict rules of high society. Julian wouldn't have it any other way.

“To family!” the room echoed.
Later that night, as they lay in bed, Clara rested her head against Julian’s chest, listening to the steady, strong beat of his heart.
“Did you ever think,” she whispered, “that a broken heel and a muddy rope would lead to this?”

Julian pulled the covers over them, kissing the top of her head.
“In my world, Clara,” he murmured, closing his eyes, “the best things are the ones you never see coming.”
