Chapter 17

Julian kicked the rusted metal doors of the boathouse with enough force to snap the hinges.

He stepped into the gloom, an assault rifle pressed firmly to his shoulder.

Dante had managed to scrape together five desperate mercenaries to guard the interior.

They opened fire immediately, sending a hail of bullets sparking against the metal walls.

Julian rolled behind a stack of rotting wooden crates, returning fire with lethal accuracy.

He dropped two of the mercenaries before they even realized where the shots were coming from.

Meanwhile, Elara had dropped through a rusted skylight, landing silently on a steel catwalk above the main floor.

She moved like a shadow, taking out a sniper positioned in the rafters with a swift, brutal knife strike.

Below her, she saw Elias tied to a chair in the center of the room, battered and bloody but very much alive.

Dante was hiding behind a concrete pillar, screaming at his remaining men to kill the intruders.

Elara vaulted over the railing of the catwalk, dropping twenty feet straight down.

She landed perfectly, absorbing the impact, and immediately fired two suppressed rounds.

The last two mercenaries dropped instantly with bullet holes perfectly centered in their foreheads.

The boathouse suddenly went deathly quiet, leaving only Dante Russo hiding behind the pillar.

Julian stepped out from his cover, walking slowly toward the center of the room.
