Chapter 10

Dante Russo was losing his mind.
He paced his luxury penthouse, smashing expensive vases and screaming at his remaining guards.
"Who is doing this?!" he roared, slamming his fist into a glass table, shattering it.
His men had no answers; they had found no footprints, no bullet casings, no witnesses.
It was as if God himself was striking down the Russo syndicate one by one.
Carmine Russo, the aging patriarch, finally decided enough was enough.
He saw that his nephew's reckless ambition had brought a plague of death upon their family.
Carmine realized that Julian Moretti wasn't cowardly; he was playing a game of chess while Dante played checkers.
Desperate to save his empire, Carmine reached out to Julian to broker an emergency peace summit.
He offered to hand over Dante in exchange for a cessation of hostilities.
Julian received the message via a secure burner phone while standing next to Elara.
He read the text aloud, his voice devoid of emotion.
"Carmine wants to meet at the old cathedral in Brooklyn tonight," Julian said.
Elara analyzed the proposal instantly.
"It’s a trap," she said without hesitation. "Carmine would never betray his own blood, even a rabid dog like Dante."

Julian nodded slowly. "I know."
"But we are going to attend anyway."
