A wave of pure terror washed over me, nearly causing me to drop the flashlight.

He had been planning this absolute isolation long before we ever walked down the aisle.

I realized I didn't just need a lawyer; I needed the police, the FBI, and an absolute miracle.

With shaking hands, I opened the camera application on Noah’s phone.

I carefully photographed every single page of the offshore bank statements.

Then, I took crystal-clear pictures of the terrifying surveillance reports on my family.

I made sure the dates, names, and account numbers were entirely visible in the harsh glare of the flash.

My daughter kicked hard against my ribs, as if she knew we were fighting for our very survival.

"I know, baby, I know," I whispered into the dark room. "We are getting out."

I carefully placed the folders exactly as I had found them, ensuring not a single paper was out of place.

I shut the heavy steel door of the safe, spun the dial to lock it, and stood up.

Just as I turned to leave, the headlights of Garrett’s black SUV flashed across the office window.

Panic seized my chest in a tight, suffocating grip.
