Chapter 20 - The Vows We Keep

A year later, the grand hall of the Moretti estate was unrecognizable. The dark, brooding atmosphere of the syndicate days had been washed away in a sea of white orchids, silk ribbons, and warm, golden light.
Clara walked down the grand staircase, wearing a stunning, elegant white gown. At the bottom of the stairs, Julian waited in a perfectly tailored tuxedo, his eyes shining with adoration.
Beside him stood Leo and Luca in matching miniature suits, holding the rings on a velvet pillow. And walking ahead of Clara, tossing white rose petals onto the polished marble floor, was Lily, wearing a beautiful tulle dress.
There were no rival bosses in attendance. There were no armed guards flanking the doors. The guests were friends, legitimate business partners, and the loyal staff who had become like family.
As Clara took Julian’s hand, the priest began the ceremony. They didn't just exchange traditional vows; they spoke promises forged in fire, blood, and profound sacrifice.
“I promise to protect our light,” Julian whispered as he slid the ring onto her finger.
“I promise to be your home,” Clara replied, kissing his cheek.

The story of the destitute cleaner who dropped a tray in the mafia boss’s hall became a legend whispered in the city. But it wasn't a story of fear. It was the story of a mother’s fierce love, a monster’s redemption, and a broken family that found the cure for their pain in each other.
