Chapter 3 - The Awakening of a Titan

The emergency room was a chaotic blur of doctors, bright lights, and antiseptic smells.
A pediatric plastic surgeon carefully stitched the gash above Emma’s eyebrow, ensuring there would be no permanent scar.
Emma finally drifted into a peaceful sleep, exhausted from the trauma and the mild pain medication.
I sat in the uncomfortable plastic chair beside her bed, watching her chest rise and fall.
The door gently pushed open, and my lead attorney, Richard, walked in carrying a thick leather briefcase.
He was a shark in a tailored suit, a man who charged a thousand dollars an hour to destroy my enemies.
“How is she, Claire?” Richard asked softly, looking at the sleeping child with genuine concern.
“She will recover, but I want Julian Montgomery to suffer,” I replied, my voice devoid of any warmth.
Richard opened his briefcase and handed me a freshly printed dossier containing Julian’s entire life history.
Julian was a mid-level executive at a boutique investment firm that was currently struggling to stay afloat.
He had massive gambling debts, which explained why he desperately tried to steal his fiancée's family heirloom.
Even worse, his investment firm was currently leasing their flagship office space from my real estate conglomerate.
“They are three months behind on their commercial rent, Claire,” Richard noted with a predatory smile.
“Evict them at dawn,” I ordered without a single second of hesitation.
“I want the locks changed, the security codes wiped, and a public notice of eviction plastered on their glass doors.”
Richard nodded eagerly, already typing the commands into his encrypted smartphone.
I was going to dismantle Julian’s professional life before he even posted bail.
I also instructed Richard to buy the debt from Julian’s dangerous gambling bookies.

If Julian owed money to the criminal underworld, he now officially owed it to me.
I was going to squeeze him until he had absolutely nothing left but the clothes on his back.
