Chapter 6 - The Brother's Warning

Liam's health had improved drastically over the past month, his color returning and his strength building.
Josie visited him in the estate's medical wing, bringing him a bowl of fresh soup and a hopeful smile.
"You look happy, Jo," Liam observed, sitting up in bed and taking the tray.
"I am," she admitted, blushing slightly as she thought of the stolen glances and quiet conversations with Constantine.
Liam's face grew serious, his protective brotherly instincts kicking in despite his fragile state.
"I watch the news on this tablet they gave me," Liam warned quietly.
"The man you're falling for is fighting a blood feud with the Volkov syndicate."
"He's protecting us," Josie defended, pacing the length of the sterile room.
"At what cost?" Liam challenged, coughing slightly.
"If he falls, we fall with him."
Josie knew Liam was right; the danger was a constant, suffocating blanket over the mansion.
Later that evening, she confronted Constantine in his office, the heavy mahogany doors closed behind them.
"Liam is worried," she stated plainly, standing before his massive desk.

"He has every right to be," Constantine replied, not looking up from the blueprints spread before him.
"I am hitting the Volkov headquarters tonight to end this once and for all."
