Chapter 6 - Blood on the Marble

The first wave of Volkov assassins breached the manor's foyer, their suppressed submachine guns shattering the antique chandeliers and shredding the priceless artwork. Silas had positioned himself on the grand balcony overlooking the entrance, returning fire with lethal precision.
Two masked men dropped instantly, their armor pierced by Silas's high-caliber rounds. But there were too many. Six more flooded into the room, tossing flashbangs that temporarily blinded Silas’s security detail.
"Push forward! Find the girl!" the Russian strike leader yelled, motioning toward the eastern wing where Silas's study was located.

Suddenly, a massive, charcoal-grey blur launched from the shadows of the hallway. Bane hadn't stayed in the panic room. The dog hit the first assassin with the force of a freight train, his jaws locking onto the man’s throat in a spray of crimson. The man’s screams were cut short as Bane violently shook his head, neutralizing the threat in seconds.
The remaining Russians turned in horror, raising their weapons. But Bane was already moving, weaving through the gunfire with supernatural speed. He took down a second man, crushing his wrist and tearing the weapon from his grasp. Silas used the distraction to rain fire from above, dropping three more hostiles. Within two minutes, the grand foyer was dead quiet, save for the heavy panting of the lethal hound standing over his prey.
