Silas dropped to his knees in the bedroom, tossing his gun aside. Elara crawled out from her hiding spot, tears streaming down her face, and threw her arms around Silas’s neck. He hugged her tightly, closing his eyes, a profound sense of relief washing over him.
"You're safe," he whispered, burying his face in her hair. "You're safe."
A soft whine broke the silence. Silas looked up. Bane was limping toward them, his grey fur matted with blood. The massive hound slumped onto the floor beside them, exhausted and wounded, but alive.

Elara pulled away from Silas and gently hugged the dog’s massive head, burying her face in his fur. Bane let out a deep sigh, his tail giving a weak, slow thump against the floorboards.
Silas reached out, placing a hand gently on the beast's head. "Good boy," the crime boss muttered. "Good boy."
