Chapter 10 - The Celebration

A year to the day after that terrible dinner, Clara and Sarah returned to Le Petit Bijou to celebrate her absolute freedom.
They walked into the elegant dining room, greeted warmly by the maître d' who remembered exactly who they were.
He escorted them to the best table in the house, offering them a complimentary bottle of the finest champagne in the cellar.
The restaurant was just as beautiful and crowded as it had been on that fateful night, but the atmosphere felt entirely different to Clara.
She wasn't hiding behind a menu, she wasn't waiting for permission to speak, and she wasn't terrified of making a mistake.
She raised her crystal glass, the ambient light catching the golden bubbles of the expensive champagne.
“To you, Mom,” Clara said, her voice filled with deep, unwavering gratitude.
“You saved my life that night, and you taught me exactly how to fight back.”
Sarah smiled warmly, clinking her glass gently against her daughter's glass.
“I only showed you the door, Clara,” Sarah replied softly.
“You are the one who had the courage to walk through it and build a beautiful life on the other side.”
They drank their champagne, laughing freely and enjoying the incredible food without a single worry in the world.
Clara looked around the restaurant, realizing that the horrible memory of being assaulted here had been entirely overwritten.
This was no longer the place where she was publicly broken; this was the place where her beautiful new life had officially begun.
