Chapter 9 - Justice Served

The legal proceedings over the next few months were a complete slaughter.

Justin’s threat to take full custody of Maya completely backfired in spectacular fashion.

The judge reviewed the security footage from the clinic, showing Vanessa’s unprovoked assault and Justin’s cruel indifference.

Combined with the embezzlement charges and his complete financial ruin, Justin didn't stand a chance.

The family court awarded me sole physical and legal custody of Maya, granting Justin zero visitation rights.

He wasn't even allowed within five hundred feet of us due to the permanent restraining order.

Meanwhile, the federal prosecutors were building a massive case against him for corporate fraud and grand larceny.

To avoid a lengthy trial, Justin eventually accepted a plea deal that required him to serve seven years in federal prison.

During his sentencing hearing, he looked across the courtroom at me, his eyes hollow and defeated.

He had traded a loving wife, a beautiful daughter, and a successful life for an illusion that destroyed him.

I felt absolutely nothing as the judge struck the gavel, finalizing his tragic fate.

I walked out of the courthouse holding Maya in my arms, surrounded by the fiercely protective wall of my three brothers.

The anonymous sender of the mysterious file eventually revealed himself through a secure encrypted email.
