Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Confrontation

The glass doors of the commercial real estate firm gleamed in the harsh Arizona sunlight.

I walked into the opulent lobby, flanked by Luke on my right and Mark on my left.

The receptionist recognized me immediately and nervously pointed toward the executive boardroom.

We pushed open the heavy mahogany doors without knocking.

Justin was sitting at the head of the long glass table, flanked by two of his senior partners.

Vanessa was sitting right next to him, looking incredibly smug in a designer maternity dress she definitely didn't need.

Justin stood up, attempting to look powerful and composed in front of his bosses.

"Clara, I told you to come alone," he hissed through gritted teeth.

"I don't take orders from you anymore, Justin," I said, dropping my heavy briefcase directly onto the glass table.

The loud smack echoed through the room, making Vanessa jump in her seat.

"What is the meaning of this interruption?" one of the senior partners demanded angrily.

Luke stepped forward, placing a thick stack of legal documents right in front of the partner.

"These are emergency restraining orders and a notice of immediate asset freezing," Luke announced smoothly.

Justin’s face drained of all color, his arrogant posture instantly collapsing.

I unclasped the briefcase and pulled out the records of the secret wire transfers.

I didn't just hand them to Justin; I slid copies directly to his senior partners.

"I believe you will find these offshore transaction logs highly relevant to your missing quarterly profits," I said clearly.

The boardroom plunged into an absolute, suffocating silence.
