Chapter 8 - The Fall of Justin

The aftermath in the boardroom was violently chaotic.

The senior partners immediately called corporate security to have Justin and Vanessa escorted from the building.

They also dialed the FBI, realizing the scope of Justin’s financial crimes crossed federal lines.

As security dragged them out, Justin fell to his knees in the hallway, begging me to listen to him.

"Clara, please!

She tricked me!

I lost my mind, please don't take Maya!" he sobbed pathetically.

I looked down at the pathetic shell of the man I had married.

"You lost the right to say Maya's name the moment you let that woman strike me while holding her," I said firmly.

I turned my back on him and walked out of the building with my brothers.

The crisp outside air never tasted so incredibly sweet and refreshing.

By the time the sun set that evening, Justin had been formally fired from his lucrative job.

Vanessa, realizing Justin’s bank accounts were frozen and he was facing prison time, immediately vanished.

She abandoned the luxury apartment he had leased for her, taking all the expensive jewelry he had bought her.

She left him with absolutely nothing, proving her loyalty was only tied to his stolen money.

My phone rang continuously that night, filled with frantic, begging voicemails from a desperate man.

I didn't answer a single one of them.

I simply handed the phone to Luke, who forwarded every message directly to the judge handling our case.

Justin was digging his own grave, and I was more than happy to hand him the shovel.
