Chapter 10 - The Master Plan

The penthouse became our war room.

Marcus had a team of rogue IT specialists analyzing the USB drive, tracing the cartel money back to Arthur’s legitimate shell companies.

"Here is the play," Marcus explained, pointing to a blueprint of the Grand Chicago Hotel ballroom. "Tomorrow night, five hundred of the city's elite will be in this room.

Media from all over the country. Arthur is giving a keynote speech at 9:00 PM."

"And what do we do?" I asked.

"We hijack the audiovisual system," Marcus smiled grimly. "My tech guys will route the audio from the USB drive—the recording of Claire’s murder—directly into the main speakers.

Simultaneously, all the financial documents will be emailed to every major news outlet and the FBI's organized crime division."

"But Arthur will run," Leo said, his voice stronger now after a day of proper food and rest.

"Not if I trap him," I said, a dangerous new resolve hardening my heart.

"I’ll be in the crowd. I’ll make sure he sees me. He won't be able to resist coming after me."

Marcus looked at me critically. "It’s extremely dangerous, Sarah.

If his security gets to you before the FBI does, you’re dead."

"For Claire," I said fiercely. "And for Leo. I’m doing it."
