Chapter 3 - The Aftermath

The ride back to the Vance estate was quiet and incredibly peaceful.

For three years, I had hidden my immense wealth to see if Liam loved me for who I was.

I had endured his mother's endless insults and his sister's cruel pranks in the name of love.

But tonight, the illusion of our happy marriage had been permanently shattered.

When I walked into the grand foyer of my family's mansion, my father was waiting.

He was a billionaire titan of industry, and he did not look happy.

"I told you the Sterling boy was weak," my father said, handing me a glass of champagne.

"You were right, Dad, and I am ready to file the divorce papers," I replied, taking a long sip.

Meanwhile, back at the banquet hall, the Sterling family was facing the wrath of high society.

The guests had recorded the entire humiliating scene on their phones.

Within hours, the video of Chloe's failed setup and Liam's cowardice was trending across social media.

The Sterling family name, which they prided themselves on, was now a complete laughingstock.

The next morning, Liam woke up to find that his company's stock had plummeted by twenty percent.

Investors were pulling out rapidly, not wanting to be associated with a public scandal.

Mrs. Sterling tried to go to her elite country club, but her membership card was publicly declined at the door.

She threw a massive tantrum, only to be escorted off the premises by security.

They had built their entire lives on social status, and I was going to tear it down brick by brick.

The game had just begun.
