Chapter 9 - The Final Word

Lorenzo was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the shoulder, limping through the foggy pier.
His men were all dead, the silence of the docks returning with a heavy finality.
He stumbled toward a rusted shipping container, desperately trying to call for backup.
A tall figure stepped out of the fog, blocking his path.
Aleandro stood there in his tailored suit, looking entirely unbothered by the chaos.
"You missed the wedding invitations, Lorenzo," Aleandro said coldly.
Lorenzo raised his pistol, but Marco stepped from the shadows and shot the gun out of his hand.
Lorenzo screamed, falling to his knees in the wet concrete.
"She played you," Lorenzo spat, holding his shattered hand.
"No, I played you," Aleandro corrected, stepping closer until he towered over his rival.
"You made the mistake of thinking you could use my family against me."
Aleandro drew his own gold-plated revolver from his shoulder holster.
"Tell the devil that the Moretti family sends their regards," Aleandro whispered.
He pulled the trigger, the loud bang echoing across the water.
Lorenzo hit the ground, dead before he registered the pain.

Aleandro adjusted his cuffs and turned away from the body.
The city belonged to him again, and the silence was finally peaceful.
