Chapter 6 - Feeding the Beast

The next morning, the game changed drastically.
Aleandro taped the listening device back onto the painting himself.
Isabella sat on the sofa, her hands clasped tightly, watching him orchestrate the trap.
"Are you ready?" Aleandro mouthed to her, pointing at the hidden microphone.
She took a deep breath, nodding with a newfound determination.
Aleandro called Marco into the office, intentionally leaving the door open.
"Marco, the weapon shipment arrives at Pier 44 tomorrow at midnight," Aleandro said loudly.
"It is our biggest payload yet, worth fifty million, and it will be lightly guarded."
Marco, fully aware of the plan, played his part perfectly.
"Are you sure, Boss? That leaves us vulnerable if Lorenzo's old crew finds out."
"They are disorganized ghosts, Marco," Aleandro scoffed with fake arrogance.
"No one is going to touch that shipment."
Aleandro dismissed Marco and walked over to Isabella, kissing her forehead.
Across the city, Lorenzo was listening to the feed, smiling at his own apparent genius.
He was gathering his men to hit Pier 44, completely unaware he was walking into a massacre.
Aleandro looked at the painting and smiled a dark, wicked smile.
