Chapter 3 - The Midnight Meeting

Two nights later, the tracking software finally caught a break.
The signal from the bug bounced to a burner phone in a warehouse district near the docks.
Aleandro watched from a black SUV parked three blocks away, hidden in the shadows.
He saw a figure in a red coat slipping through the rainy alleyway.
It was Isabella, moving with frantic, desperate energy.
Aleandro’s heart hammered against his ribs as he watched her enter a derelict building.
He signaled his tactical team to move in silently, surrounding the perimeter.
Aleandro stepped out into the rain, his suppressed pistol drawn and ready.
He crept to a broken window, peering into the dim, flickering light of the warehouse.
Isabella stood in the center of the room, shivering violently.
A man stepped out of the shadows, clapping slowly in a mocking rhythm.
Aleandro’s breath hitched in his throat.
It was Lorenzo, a rival boss they all thought had died in a car bomb five years ago.
"You brought the information, little bird?" Lorenzo sneered, stepping closer to her.
"I did what you asked," Isabella sobbed, her voice echoing in the empty space.
"Now let me see her!" she screamed, lunging forward before two guards grabbed her.
Aleandro tightened his grip on his weapon, the pieces finally falling into place.
