Chapter 4 - The Hostage

Lorenzo chuckled, a sound that made Aleandro’s blood boil with lethal intent.

He snapped his fingers, and a heavy metal door groaned open at the back of the room.

Two men dragged a young woman out, her hands bound and a blindfold over her eyes.

Isabella fell to her knees, screaming her younger sister's name.

"Sofia!" Isabella cried out, fighting against the men holding her back.

Aleandro had never known Isabella had a sister; she had claimed to be an orphan.

"She lives as long as you keep feeding me Aleandro's shipment schedules," Lorenzo threatened.

"If he finds out, or if you stop, I will send her to you in pieces."

Isabella wept, nodding frantically as she stared at her battered sister.

Outside the window, Aleandro lowered his gun, his anger completely evaporating.

It was replaced by a cold, calculating ruthlessness that would become legendary.

He could not breach the room now; the guards had guns pressed to Sofia's head.

He had to pull back, let Isabella go home, and plan a slaughter.

He tapped his earpiece, signaling his men to hold their fire and retreat.

They faded back into the rainy night like ghosts.

Aleandro knew he had to break his fiancée's heart before he could save her soul.

He headed back to the mansion to wait for her return.
