Chapter 7 - The Extraction

Matteo had Vinnie dragged into an abandoned fish-packing warehouse a mile from the docks. The rest of the Moretti men were locked in empty shipping containers, waiting for their fate.
Vinnie was chained to a metal chair, blood dripping from a broken nose he’d earned by resisting Dante’s grip. Matteo took off his overcoat, rolled up his sleeves, and pulled up a chair directly across from the rival enforcer.
"I'm going to ask you once, Vinnie," Matteo said, his tone conversational, which made it all the more terrifying. "Where is Julian Bianchi?"
Vinnie spat a glob of blood onto the concrete. "I don't know what you're talking about, Rossi."
Matteo didn't blink. He nodded to Dante. Dante pulled a heavy steel wrench from his belt and slammed it into Vinnie’s left kneecap. The sickening crack echoed through the warehouse, followed by Vinnie’s agonizing scream.
"Let's try again," Matteo said, leaning forward. "Camilla's brother. The college kid you snatched in Boston to use as leverage against my fiancée. Where are you holding him?"
Vinnie panted, sweat pouring down his face. "The boss... Don Moretti... he’ll kill me."
"Don Moretti isn't here," Matteo whispered. "I am. And I can make this last for days."
"Wait! Wait!" Vinnie screamed, holding his hands up. "The old slaughterhouse! In Queens! They have him tied up in the basement meat locker!"
Matteo stood up, adjusting his cuffs. "How many guards?"
May you like
"A dozen. Heavy hitters. They were waiting to confirm the diamond heist before they... disposed of the kid."
Matteo’s eyes turned pitch black. He looked at Dante. "Gag him. Prepare the assault team. We're going to Queens."
