Chapter 6 - The Trap is Sprung

Thursday night. The docks at Pier 42 were shrouded in thick, coastal fog. Rain slicked the pavement, reflecting the sparse, yellow glow of the streetlamps.
A black armored truck sat idling near the edge of the pier. Only two Rossi guards were visible, smoking cigarettes near the bumper, exactly as Matteo had promised over the wire.
At exactly midnight, a fleet of unlit SUVs rolled silently into the shipping yard. The Moretti hit squad.
Thirty heavily armed men piled out of the vehicles, raising assault rifles with laser sights cutting through the fog. They moved like shadows, surrounding the armored truck. The lead enforcer, a brutal man named Vinnie, kicked the back doors of the truck open, expecting crates of diamonds and guns.
The truck was completely empty.
Vinnie’s radio crackled. "It's a setup! Fall back!"
Before a single Moretti soldier could retreat, the floodlights on the surrounding cargo ships snapped on, turning the pier into blinding daylight.
From the catwalks, the shipping containers, and the rooftops, fifty of Matteo’s elite Rossi soldiers stepped out of the darkness, weapons trained on the trapped Moretti squad.
Matteo stepped out from the shadows of a crane, wearing a tailored black overcoat, completely unarmed but carrying the lethal aura of a god of death.
"Good evening, Vinnie," Matteo echoed, his voice carrying over the sound of the crashing waves. "You're trespassing on my docks."
May you like
"Rossi!" Vinnie spat, raising his gun.
"I wouldn't," Matteo warned. "Unless you want to be turned into Swiss cheese. Drop your weapons."
