Chapter 8 - The Hammer Falls

At exactly 12:00 PM, I stood at the podium in the glass-walled lobby of my company. Hundreds of reporters, flashing cameras, and microphones were shoved in my face.

“This morning, my former fiancée made several severe allegations against me,” I began, my voice echoing through the massive room. “I am not here to deny that our relationship has ended. I am here to provide context.”

I clicked a button on the podium. The massive LED screen behind me lit up.

I didn't play defense. I played absolute offense.

I played the security footage of Jessica planting the diamond necklace in Sarah’s bags.

I showed the bank records, side-by-side with Chloe’s signed confession of wire fraud.

And finally, I played the audio recording of Jessica bribing the clinic doctor to delete Sarah’s medical records and forge the CPS documents.

The reporters in the room went dead silent. The sound of Jessica’s own voice echoing through the lobby, laughing about destroying a pregnant woman’s life, was damning.

“Jessica Lawson didn't leave me,” I said into the microphones. “She is currently fleeing federal indictments for extortion, wire fraud, perjury, and child endangerment. And I am offering a one-million-dollar reward from my personal funds to anyone who provides information leading to her immediate arrest.”

The press conference exploded into chaos.

But I didn't stick around to answer questions. I walked away, knowing I had just dropped a nuclear bomb on Jessica’s entire existence.
