Chapter 3 - The Stolen Future

The deeper I dug into David’s files, the darker the truth became. David was an investment broker, handling millions for high-net-worth clients. But as I combed through our joint accounts, I realized he hadn't just been cheating on me—he had been robbing our son.

We had a medical trust set up for Leo, funds meant to cover his surgeries and specialized care. I stared at the screen, my blood turning to liquid nitrogen. The account was practically empty.

David had siphoned over $250,000 out of our dying son's medical fund over the past six months. He had used it to buy the lease on Chloe’s downtown loft, the diamond tennis bracelet, and the endless nights at the seaside resort. He literally drained the money meant to keep our child breathing to fund his affair.

I placed my hands flat on the mahogany desk, closing my eyes as a wave of nausea washed over me. Leo had died because we couldn't afford the experimental treatment in Boston. David had told me the insurance denied it and our funds were tied up in the market.

He killed him. David’s greed had murdered our little boy.

I opened my eyes, and the tears were gone. In their place was a clarity so sharp it could cut diamonds. I opened a hidden browser and began transferring files. I wasn't going to divorce David. Divorce was a mercy. I was going to send him to hell.
