Chapter 6 - The Darker Truth

Julian sat at his mahogany desk for three hours, drinking a glass of scotch and staring at Victoria’s unlocked laptop.
His elite team of cybersecurity experts had cracked her passwords in less than ten minutes.
Julian was searching for evidence of where she had acquired the untraceable muscle relaxant, hoping to find an illegal supplier.
Instead, what he found hidden in a buried, encrypted folder made his blood run colder than ice.
There were dozens of wire transfer receipts sent to an offshore account in the Cayman Islands.
The payments had started exactly fifteen months ago, one month before the fatal car crash that took his wife's life.
The final, massive payment was dated the exact morning after Elena’s luxury SUV was crushed by the delivery truck.
Julian felt his lungs constrict, a physical wave of nausea washing over his exhausted body.
He opened a secure messaging app and read the deleted conversations that his software had easily recovered.
"The mountain roads are icy tonight, the target is in the black SUV," Victoria had written to an anonymous burner number.
"Make it look like a tragic accident, and ensure there are absolutely no survivors."
Julian dropped his glass of scotch, the crystal shattering violently against the hardwood floor of his study.
The crash had never been a tragic accident caused by black ice and bad luck.
Victoria Frost had orchestrated the assassination of his wife because she wanted Julian's empire and his bed.
She had hired a mercenary to ram the family car, killing Elena instantly and leaving young Silas trapped in a paralyzed shell.
And when the boy refused to die from his injuries, Victoria had decided to finish the job herself.
Julian stood up from his desk, his vision entirely red with a level of fury that could burn a city to the ground.
