Chapter 5 - The Beautiful Monster

"I don't know what you are talking about," Victoria stammered, taking a slow step backward against the locked steel door.
"That disgraced, psychotic nurse must have made a mistake, Julian, you know her history!"
"Clara didn't make a mistake, Victoria," Julian replied, pulling the chemical testing syringe from his jacket pocket.
He tossed the plastic tube onto the marble floor, the bright yellow liquid splashing dangerously close to Victoria's expensive heels.
"She tested the saline bag you spiked, and the chemical reagent confirmed the poison," he stated, his voice dripping with venom.
"You tried to murder an eight-year-old boy in his sleep."
Victoria stared at the yellow liquid on the floor, her chest heaving as the carefully constructed walls of her lies finally collapsed.
Suddenly, her expression shifted from terrified panic to a cold, calculating sneer of absolute disgust.
"He is a vegetable, Julian!" she screamed, her true, ugly nature finally clawing its way to the surface.
"He is a broken, useless burden, and he is dragging you down into a pathetic pit of endless grief!"
Julian felt a blinding flash of white-hot rage, his finger tightening dangerously against the trigger of his gun.
"I am young, I am beautiful, and I am going to give you perfect, healthy children," Victoria continued, her voice echoing with madness.
"I was doing you a favor, Julian, I was freeing you from a lifetime of pushing a wheelchair!"
"You are a psychotic, empty shell of a human being," Julian whispered, disgusted that he had ever let her touch him.
Marcus suddenly stepped out from the shadows of the kitchen, flanked by two heavily armed security guards.
"Do you want me to dispose of her, boss?" Marcus asked quietly, his eyes fixed on Victoria with absolute hatred.
"No, Marcus, killing her would be entirely too merciful," Julian answered, holstering his weapon with a sharp snap.
"Bind her hands, lock her in the basement holding cell, and bring me her cell phone and private laptop."
Victoria screamed and fought violently as the guards grabbed her arms, her elegant gown tearing in the struggle.

"You cannot do this to me, my father is a federal judge!" she shrieked, kicking wildly at the men.
"Your father cannot save you from what I am about to do to your life," Julian promised softly as they dragged her away.
