Chapter 10 - The Empire of Light

A full year had passed since the darkness was banished from the Vance estate.
The grand limestone mansion was no longer a quiet, solemn tomb of grief and isolation.
It was a vibrant, living home, echoing with the sounds of loud music, laughter, and endless hope.
It was Silas’s ninth birthday, and the backyard was completely transformed into a massive, colorful carnival.
There were bright balloons, a professional magician, and dozens of children running happily across the green lawns.
Silas was not lying motionless in a medical bed staring at a blank ceiling anymore.
He was sitting proudly in a high-tech, custom-built motorized wheelchair, chasing his new friends around the patio.
His voice had fully returned, loud and demanding, completely shedding the ghost he used to be.
Julian stood near the massive stone fireplace, watching his son smile with a heart full of absolute pride.
He was wearing a casual blue shirt, having completely abandoned the rigid, tailored suits of his darker days.
Clara walked up beside him, handing him a glass of sparkling cider and leaning gently against his shoulder.
She was wearing a beautiful summer dress, her eyes shining with genuine happiness and deep affection.
"He is moving so fast, I don't think the other kids can catch him," Clara laughed, watching Silas spin the chair in a perfect circle.
"He is a Vance, he was born to outrun everyone else," Julian smiled, wrapping a strong arm around Clara’s waist.
They had slowly fallen in love over the past year, building a relationship on a foundation of fierce loyalty and absolute trust.
Julian looked out over his sprawling estate, realizing that his true empire was not built on data centers, wealth, or corporate power.
His empire was standing right here, holding a glass of cider and watching a little boy laugh in the sun.
