Chapter 9 - The Fall of the King

"Give me the vials, Sarah," Victor demanded, aiming the weapon directly at her chest.

Arthur stepped in front of Sarah, shielding her with his own body.

"You will have to kill me first, Victor," Arthur said, his voice completely steady.

Victor laughed, a cruel, echoing sound in the cold vault.

"That can easily be arranged, brother," Victor sneered, tightening his finger on the trigger.

Suddenly, the blaring, deafening sound of police sirens filled the entire building.

Red and blue lights flashed wildly through the high windows of the basement laboratory.

Victor froze in panic, looking at the security monitors on the wall.

Mia had not stayed home; she had gone straight to the local police precinct with Arthur's corporate lawyer and a recording device.

Before Victor could react, a SWAT team breached the loading dock doors with explosives.

Victor dropped his weapon, raising his hands in surrender as heavily armed officers flooded the room.
