Chapter 5 - The Billionaire's Blind Spot

"I didn't steal that money, Arthur, and I didn't destroy my own life's work," Sarah said, tears welling in her eyes.

"I was framed by your brother, Victor."

Arthur shook his head in disbelief, unable to process the accusation against his own flesh and blood.

"Victor told me you sold the cure to a rival pharmaceutical company," Arthur argued weakly.

"Victor lied to you so he could patent the treatment under a shell company and charge a fortune for it," Sarah countered fiercely.

"He knew my son was sick, and he knew your daughter had the gene, too."

"He is the one selling you the temporary medicine that keeps Chloe alive right now."

Arthur felt physically sick as he realized the medicine costing him hundreds of thousands of dollars a month was stolen.

Worse, Victor was deliberately suppressing the permanent cure to keep a monopoly on the treatment.

Sarah had been forced into hiding, living in deep poverty while trying to synthesize the cure from scratch in a broken-down apartment.

Mia had learned the emergency medical maneuvers simply by watching her mother keep her little brother alive every single day.

Arthur looked at Mia, then at the sick boy, and finally at the woman he had wrongfully destroyed.

"I am going to fix this," Arthur vowed, his voice turning ice-cold with fury.
