Chapter 6 - The Viper in the Penthouse

Arthur stormed into the towering glass headquarters of Vance Biomedical the next morning.
He bypassed security and kicked open the heavy oak doors of his brother Victor's corner office.
Victor looked up from his mahogany desk, casually sipping an espresso.
"Good morning, Arthur," Victor smiled smoothly. "How is little Chloe feeling today?"
Arthur crossed the room in three massive strides and slammed his hands down on the desk.
"I found Sarah Jenkins," Arthur snarled, watching Victor's smug expression instantly vanish.
Victor set his espresso down, his eyes narrowing into dangerous, calculating slits.
"I don't know what that crazy woman told you, but she is a convicted thief," Victor replied calmly.
"She told me you stole the cure, framed her, and are actively extorting your own niece's life," Arthur said.
Victor leaned back in his expensive leather chair and sighed as if he were talking to a child.
"Even if that were true, Arthur, I control the manufacturing facility for Chloe's temporary medicine."
"If you go to the police, the factory shuts down, and your daughter will be dead before the trial even begins."

Victor smiled, a cold, soulless expression that made Arthur's blood boil.
"You are going to walk out of here, forget about Sarah, and keep writing the checks."
