Chapter 2 - The Chase and the Question

"Wait, please don't go!" Arthur shouted, gently setting his daughter into the arms of the arriving paramedics.
He scrambled to his feet and sprinted through the crowd, ignoring the flashing cameras of onlookers.
He caught up to the girl near the station exits, gently grabbing the strap of her broken backpack.
The girl spun around, her eyes wide with fear, looking like a trapped animal.
"I didn't steal anything, I swear!" she cried out, raising her hands defensively.
Arthur dropped to one knee so he was at eye level with her, holding up his hands to show he meant no harm.
"I know you didn't steal anything, sweetheart," Arthur said softly.
"You just saved my little girl's life when nobody else knew what to do."
"I just want to know your name, and how you knew exactly how to fix her breathing."
The girl looked at the ground, shuffling her worn-out shoes nervously.
"My name is Mia," she whispered.
"And I knew how to fix her because my little brother has the exact same sickness."
