“Is that your voice on the recording, Mr. Marcus Sterling?” the judge demanded.
Marcus stammered, looking frantically at his lawyer, who suddenly looked very pale.

“It was recorded by a child being actively assaulted in a public area of a house during a party,” the judge snapped back.
“Objection overruled.”
The judge immediately denied my father’s ridiculous custody petition.

The judge ordered a bailiff to secure the courtroom.

“Both for child endangerment, and to investigate whatever trust fund fraud was being discussed.”
My father stood up, his face purple with rage, pointing a shaking finger at me.
“You ruined this family, David!” he screamed across the aisle.
“No, Dad,” I replied, looking him dead in the eye.

Police officers moved in to escort my father out of the building.
