Chapter 5 - The Sabotage

Sarah gasped as she looked down at the glossy covers of the city's most notorious gossip magazines.

Her face was plastered across the front pages next to sensational, bright red headlines.

"THE CATERING CON-ARTIST: DID WAITRESS STAGE RESCUE TO BAG BILLIONAIRE?"

Another headline screamed: "FROM POVERTY TO PENTHOUSE: SARAH'S SINISTER PLOT TO STEAL A CHILD!"

Sarah's hands shook as she read the fabricated stories detailing a supposed criminal past she never had.

The articles claimed she had secretly worked with the air conditioning company to lock Leo in the vents.

Tears welled up in her eyes as the vicious lies painted her as a calculating, greedy monster.

"Who would do this?" Sarah whispered, feeling the entire world crashing down around her.

Arthur snatched the magazines off the table, his jaw clenched so tight it looked like it might shatter.

"Isabella," Arthur growled, his voice radiating pure, unadulterated fury.

"Even from behind bars, she is trying to poison our lives through her sleazy contacts."

The attorney nervously adjusted his glasses, looking hesitantly between Arthur and Sarah.

"The board of directors is panicking, Arthur," the lawyer warned. "They want Sarah removed from the estate immediately."

"They believe the bad press will ruin the company's upcoming merger."

Sarah stood up, her heart breaking as she realized she was becoming a liability to the family she had grown to love.

"Maybe I should leave," Sarah choked out, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. "I don't want to ruin your business."

"No!" Arthur shouted, his voice echoing fiercely through the grand library.

He grabbed her hand again, his grip strong and completely unwavering.

"You are not going anywhere, Sarah. I will burn my entire company to the ground before I let them chase you away."
