Chapter 9 - The Meeting of Bosses

Before the streets could run red with blood, a neutral summit was called.
The gathering took place in an abandoned cathedral on the outskirts of the city.
Lorenzo walked down the center aisle, his hand tightly holding Elena's.
She wore a stunning black gown, the gold signet ring gleaming on her hand.
Don Marchesi and Valeria Conti stood near the altar, flanked by dozens of armed men.
"You brought a maid to a syndicate parley," Valeria mocked, though her voice wavered.
Lorenzo stopped a few feet away, exuding deadly calm.
"I brought the widow of Julian Moretti," Lorenzo corrected loudly.
Whispers broke out among the neutral bosses sitting in the pews.
"She demands justice for the murder of her husband, and I stand with her," Lorenzo continued.
Don Marchesi scoffed, slamming his cane against the stone floor.
"The Moretti line is dead, and you have lost your mind, Lorenzo."
Elena stepped forward, her chin held high, showing no fear.
"The line survives in my daughter, and I will see you answer for Julian's death," she said.
Her voice echoed through the cathedral, strong and unwavering.

Marchesi’s face twisted in rage as he signaled his men to draw their weapons.
"Then you will die here today," the old boss spat.
