Chapter 14 - A Final Threat

The news of the upcoming wedding sent shockwaves through the remaining rival families.

Most fell in line, too terrified of the combined power to protest.

But out in the countryside, a final remnant of resistance was plotting.

Don Marchesi had not left Italy as he was ordered.

He had gathered a rogue group of mercenaries to attack the wedding.

He was determined to burn Lorenzo and Elena to the ground.

A spy inside Marchesi's camp sent an encrypted message to Marco.

Lorenzo intercepted the intel three days before the ceremony.

"He plans to hit us at the church," Lorenzo told Elena in his study.

"We need to cancel the wedding and move you to a safehouse."

Elena stubbornly shook her head, her eyes flashing with defiance.

"No, we are not running and we are not hiding," she declared.

"If Marchesi wants a war at the altar, we will give him a massacre."

Lorenzo stared at his bride-to-be, absolute awe in his gaze.

She had transformed from a frightened mother into a ruthless mafia queen.

"What is your plan?" he asked, ready to follow her lead.

"We set a trap," Elena smiled, a dangerous glint in her eyes.
