Chapter 16 - The Trap Springs

Marchesi's triumph lasted for exactly three seconds.

Suddenly, the stained glass windows shattered inward.

Dozens of Castiglione snipers repelled from the ceiling, weapons drawn.

The guests in the pews simultaneously stood up, revealing themselves as undercover loyalists.

Every single gun in the cathedral was pointed directly at Marchesi and his men.

The mercenaries dropped their weapons immediately, realizing it was a suicide mission.

Lorenzo didn't even flinch as he stared down the aisle at his enemy.

"I warned you to leave Rome, old man," Lorenzo said calmly.

"You mistook my mercy for weakness."

Marchesi trembled, leaning heavily on his cane as his men surrendered.

"You set me up," Marchesi wheezed, his face pale with dread.

Elena turned away from the altar and walked slowly down the aisle.

The sea of armed men parted to let her pass.

"You tried to take my family from me," Elena told the trembling boss.

"Now, I am taking everything from you."

She signaled to Marco with a brief nod of her head.
