Chapter 5 - The Boardroom Massacre

The atmosphere in the Reed Industries boardroom was thick with tension. Julian Vance stood at the head of the long mahogany table, projecting financial charts onto the screen.

"Given Alexander's unfortunate family emergency," Julian said smoothly, Feigning sympathy, "he has given me proxy to finalize the Horizon merger. This deal will secure our futures."

"He hasn't given you a damn thing," a voice boomed from the back of the room.

The heavy oak doors swung open, and Alexander strode in. He looked like a man who had walked through hell and come out holding the pitchfork. The board members gasped. Julian’s face drained of color.

"Alexander," Julian stammered, forcing a smile. "We thought you were at the hospital."

"I was," Alexander said, walking slowly to the front of the room. He slammed a thick folder onto the table. "And while I was there, I had my team do some digging into 'Horizon'. A shell company owned by you, Julian. Funded by embezzled company money."

Julian backed away. "That's absurd. You're emotional, Alex. You aren't thinking straight."

Alexander pressed a button on a remote. The financial charts on the screen vanished, replaced by the text messages between Julian and Victoria. The boardroom erupted into murmurs of shock.

"You set me up with a gold-digger. You planned to steal my company. And when my mother got in the way, you ordered your mistress to kill her," Alexander’s voice was deadly quiet, but it commanded the room. "You're finished, Julian."
