Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

The news of the Rossi family's destruction spread through the city like wildfire.

Every other crime syndicate instantly understood the bloody message Lorenzo had sent.

The Don of the Duca family was untouchable, and his new family was completely off-limits.

When Lorenzo returned to the estate, the heavy atmosphere of fear had completely vanished.

The autumn air felt crisp and clean, smelling of sweet victory and fresh coffee.

He walked into the massive kitchen to find Maria cooking breakfast.

Lily was sitting on the floor, happily tying bright pink ribbons onto Pino's black collar.

The terrifying attack dog was wagging his tail, thoroughly enjoying the ridiculous makeover.

Lorenzo leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms and smiling at the domestic scene.

He had spent thirteen years building an empire of blood, money, and fear.

But looking at the beautiful woman at the stove and the laughing child on the floor, he realized his true wealth.

Maria turned around, holding a fresh cup of dark, steaming espresso.

She saw him watching them, and a bright, radiant smile spread across her face.

"You smell like gunpowder," Maria teased him gently, handing him the warm coffee cup.

"And you smell like lavender," Lorenzo replied, pulling her in by her waist.

He kissed her deeply right there in the kitchen, not caring who saw them.

Lily giggled and clapped her hands, while Pino let out a happy, sharp bark.

The darkness of his past was finally gone, replaced by the brilliant light of his new life.
