Chapter 3 - THE VIRAL TRUTH

By Monday morning, the story had already become a massive local scandal.

But I knew the local gossip wasn't enough to secure a conviction against a wealthy, connected man like my brother.

I hired a ruthless, high-profile prosecutor-turned-lawyer named Sarah Vance to represent us.

During our very first meeting, Sarah smiled and handed me a secure flash drive.

"The police gave me a copy of the hotel security footage as part of the discovery process," Sarah explained.

"It clearly shows Harrison slipping his own watch into Lily's pocket while she was distracted by the cake."

"It proves premeditation, Claire."

"But unfortunately, the justice system can be very slow, and your parents are paying off the right people to bury this."

I looked at the flash drive, knowing exactly what needed to be done.

"What happens if this footage accidentally finds its way to the internet?" I asked quietly.

Sarah looked at her coffee cup, a sly smile playing on her lips.

"I certainly cannot advise you to leak evidence."

"But if an anonymous source uploaded it, the court of public opinion would destroy him overnight."

That evening, I created a blank, untraceable social media account.

I uploaded the raw, unedited security footage of the entire incident.

I titled it: "Groom frames 7-year-old niece, then attacks her at the reception."

I hit publish and went to sleep.

When I woke up the next morning, my phone was completely frozen from thousands of notifications.

The video had garnered over four million views in less than eight hours.

Every major news network in the country was playing the clip on their morning broadcasts.

People were absolutely outraged by the sheer brutality of a grown man hitting a child.

They were even more disgusted when they saw the clear footage of him planting the watch himself.

Harrison's employer, a massive corporate finance firm, fired him publicly on Twitter by noon.

His bride filed for a complete legal annulment, stating she feared for her own safety.
