Chapter 4 - Stripping the Crown

Panic, raw and unfiltered, seized Eleanor's features. "Arthur, you don't understand! It's out of context! I am trying to discipline them, to be a mother to them—"
"You are a monster," Arthur interrupted, his voice booming through the room. "You manipulated me. You planted seeds of doubt about the only person in this house who actually cared for my children, all so you could terrorize them in peace."
"I love you!" she shrieked, desperate tears springing to her eyes. "We are getting married!"
Arthur reached into his inner pocket and pulled out the velvet box containing the three-carat diamond ring she had returned for cleaning just yesterday. He tossed it onto the coffee table. It landed with a dull, dismissive thud.

"We are nothing," Arthur stated cold. "The wedding is canceled. Your access to my accounts has been revoked. Marcus and the security team are waiting in your suite. You have exactly fifteen minutes to pack whatever you brought into this house. Anything I bought for you stays."
Eleanor’s face contorted into something ugly and feral. "You can't do this to me! I'll ruin you! I'll go to the press! I'll tell them you're an abusive, paranoid maniac!"
