Chapter 2 - The Ghost Returns

In the sitting room, Eleanor was practically vibrating with toxic authority. "You are nothing but a glorified maid, Clara," she sneered, her voice echoing off the high ceilings. "By the time Arthur returns, you will be packing your bags. I’ll make sure he knows exactly how incompetent you—"

The heavy mahogany doors of the sitting room didn't just open; they were thrust apart with a force that rattled the expensive art on the walls.

Eleanor froze mid-sentence. Clara gasped, taking a half-step back. Sophie and Chloe looked up, their tear-filled eyes widening in absolute shock.

Arthur stood in the doorway. He didn't look like the gentle, exhausted father who had kissed them goodbye an hour ago. He looked like the apex predator of the boardroom. He stepped into the room, his footsteps echoing with deliberate, terrifying finality.

"Arthur?" Eleanor’s voice cracked. The color violently drained from her flawless face, leaving her looking sickly and pale. The venomous snake was suddenly scrambling to put its mask back on. "Darling... what are you doing here? I thought your flight..."

Arthur didn't look at her. He didn't even acknowledge her existence. He walked straight past his fiancée, his eyes locked solely on the three people who mattered.
