Chapter 6 - Rain of Glass

Smoke grenades dropped through the broken ceiling, filling the slaughterhouse with blinding white fog.

The Lucchese thugs blindly raised their weapons, completely panicked.

Marco and his elite strike team repelled down from the roof like dark ghosts.

Gunfire erupted, echoing deafeningly against the metal walls.

Aleandro didn't waste a single millisecond.

He drew his weapon and fired two perfect shots.

The two thugs guarding the door dropped dead instantly.

Vincenzo panicked and grabbed Isabella by her hair, pulling her up as a human shield.

“Back off, or she dies right now!” Vincenzo screamed over the gunfire.

Aleandro stepped forward through the thick smoke, his gun aimed steadily at Vincenzo’s face.

“Let her go, Vincenzo.”

“Your men are already dead.”

“You have nowhere to run.”

Isabella was sobbing, her hands securely bound behind her back.

She looked at Aleandro with a mixture of immense guilt and absolute love.

“I'm so sorry, Aleandro,” she cried.

“They found my little sister.”

“They threatened to murder her if I didn't plant the bug.”

Aleandro’s heart ached at her words.

He had suspected she was blackmailed, but hearing it confirmed removed the last shred of his doubt.

She had betrayed him only to save her innocent sister.

“I know, mi amore,” Aleandro said softly.

“I forgive you.”

Vincenzo laughed nervously, pressing the barrel of his gun against Isabella’s temple.

“How touching.”

“Now drop your weapon, Moretti, or you can watch her brains paint the floor.”

Aleandro slowly lowered his pistol, pretending to surrender.

He needed Vincenzo to relax his grip for just one second.
